Ministry Partners

Huntington University
Huntington University has enjoyed the ministry of STAR 88.3 for a long time. University staff have been greatly influenced by the station, its value and its mission. When the opportunity came to partner with the station in the summer of 2009, Huntington University came to the table with people to serve on the board of directors and with financial support to help purchase the station. STAR 88.3 will promote their name for years to come.

Parkview Health
Parkview and STAR 88.3 share similar goals in a desire to improve the health of the communities we serve. Parkview is the region's largest employer serving Northeast Indiana with quality health care services through 8 hospitals and a network of primary care and specialty physicians. In the spring of 2010, Parkview saw a unique opportunity to partner with Star 88.3 financially to expand the station's coverage in Northern Indiana (at 91.3 FM) and strategically market the hospital's services in these key areas.

Lakewood Park Christian School
For several years, residents in the Auburn, IN area had expressed interest in having STAR 88.3 in their community. In late 2010, an existing signal in the area became available. With the help of Lakewood Park, STAR 88.3 was able to purchase this signal and can now be heard in Auburn and Dekalb County at 99.9 FM. Together, we believe strongly in developing Christ-like character in the leaders of the future through service in the community and in educational excellence.

HearCare Connection
HearCare Connection is a new non-profit aimed at helping low-income children receive the hearing-aids they need. STAR 88.3 and HearCare Connection work together to improve the community by honoring those who make an impact through the Extra Mile program.

Forgotten Children Worldwide
Forgotten Children Worldwide is a new partner of STAR 88.3. Forgotten Children Worldwide assists orphans and vulnerable children around the globe through child sponsorship programs, clothing collection and distribution, self-sustainability projects, child trafficking prevention, and orphan home construction grants.

Associated Churches
The Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County and STAR 88.3 have partnered together in several worship and concert events throughout the past few years. The organization was created in 1944 by representatives from 23 churches. Today, Associated Churches is a unique faith-based organization that brings together 1,800 volunteers from over 125 congregations to pray, serve, and work together to improve our community and respond to those in need.

Other Impact Partners:

Throughout the year, STAR 88.3 is honored to be in partnership with these local organizations:

Habitat for Humanity
In early 2011, Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity formed a partnership with STAR to bring hope to families and to make a lasting impact on the lives of others through their dream of owning a home. The very first STAR 88.3 house will be built this summer.

Operation Christmas Child
The NE Indiana Chapter of Operation Christmas Child is one of the largest and most productive local chapters in the nation. In 2010, over 27,000 shoe boxes filled with gifts and the message of God's love were collected from our area and sent overseas to children in time for Christmas. "Rock the Boxes" is an annual kick-off event hosted by STAR 88.3 to give families a chance to pickup a shoebox, as well as enjoy a concert from a STAR 88.3 artist.

The Salvation Army (Fort Wayne)
Every Summer, STAR 88.3 listeners are encouraged to help out parents who can't afford to purchase school supplies for their kids as part of the "Tools 4 School" program. STAR 88.3 promotes collection points around the Fort Wayne area to where listeners can purchase backpacks, notebooks and other items that are listed on our web site. The Salvation Army then distributes these supplies to qualified families and students.

Charis House
STAR 88.3 has been in partnership with Charis House for nearly 20 years caring for women and children who have found themselves in a homeless situation. The goal at Charis House is to bring healing in their lives and to give them hope for a bright future by encouraging them to develop and grow spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. During the Christmas season, STAR 88.3 listeners donate new and gently used items to Charis House as a way of showing God's love (and the spirit of giving) to these women and children.
