Twelve years ago, Brandon Slay rose to worldwide acclaim by winning the Gold Medal in Freestyle Wrestling at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.  On December 14-16 he is coming to Berne to share some of his “gold” with the community.  After the Olympics, Brandon went on to attend and graduate from Dallas Theological Seminary, and started an organization called Greater Gold, www.greatergold.com, which prepares youth to reach their full academic and athletic potential while planting positive seeds of Biblical Truth.  As time permits, Brandon travels across the nation speaking to schools, youth groups, churches, and business organizations. He realizes he can't share his faith in every instance, but Brandon is spreading the message of “true gold” and what it means to be a “true champion.”  On Friday, December 14, Brandon will be working with the South Adams Schools in High School leadership training which will be followed by a Middle School assembly, and speaking at The Crossing Educational Center.  On Saturday, December 15, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. there will be a “Gold Medal Wrestling Clinic” in the South Adams Stardome; wrestlers and the public are invited.  Please contact Ron Doll - 260-341-8903; Coach Eric Myers - 260-438-7030; or Ben Wanner – 260-849-1117, with any questions regarding the clinic.    The cost for the clinic is $5.00, which includes lunch.  On Sunday, December 16 at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Slay will be speaking at Grace Bible Church.  The public is invited to attend.  Brandon is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in Finance and Management from the prestigious Wharton School of Business. While at the University of Pennsylvania, he earned All-American honors in wrestling.  Brandon was born and raised in Amarillo, TX. He now resides in Colorado Springs, CO, where he is the head wrestling coach at the Olympic Training Center.
