Homeward Bound Walk

  • April 28, 2013 at 1:00pm until 3:30pm

Location: Headwaters Park
Cost: Registration is free, but donations to fight homelessness are greatly appreciated!

The Fort Wayne community will come together this spring to take a stand against homelessness. Homeward Bound is an annual walk to help support homeless families and children in Northeast Indiana with shelter and other essential needs. Participants can register for free to walk, run, ride bikes, or roller skate through the 5k loop beginning at Headwaters Park and continuing through West Central and Downtown Fort Wayne. Each year, hundreds of walkers at Homeward Bound help raise thousands of dollars to provide housing and help fight homelessness.

This year’s benefitting agencies include the Fort Wayne Women’s Bureau, Genesis Outreach, Hope House, Huntington House Shelter, Interfaith Hospitality Network of Fort Wayne, Pathfinders Services, The Rescue Mission, Vincent Village, Whitington Homes, and YWCA Northeast Indiana – all agencies that provide services to the homeless. Terra Brantley of WANE-TV will be leading the walk as Grand Marshall. The walk is a statewide partnership with the Indiana Association for Community Economic Development (IACED) and Lilly Endowment, Inc.
