PMP Running Bee 5K and Dinner to benefit Sue Steffy
- All day on March 2, 2013
Location: Dinner: Fort Wayne Sport Club/Race: Aboite Twonship Trustee Office
Cost: Free Will Donation, see suggested donation above.
Runners, walkers, friends! Join us for the one-and-only PMP Running Bee 5k and pre-race pasta dinner! This event is to benefit Sue Steffy "Queen (bee) of 'The Region'".
Sue was recently diagnosed with "pseudomyxoma peritonei" (PMP)--more easily thought of as and called cancer of the appendix. As it is a very rare cancer, she will need to be treated outside of Indiana. After extensive research and consultations, she will go to the University of Pittsburgh, one of the few places with extensive experience in treating PMP. While her insurance covers a large percentage of the treatment costs, there are many associated expenses as she will be away from home for many weeks--transportation for her and family, care for her children, costs to be with her, etc. In addition, she will be off work for several months. Sue has been such a beacon of light for people in this community, we would like to give back through this effort.
To register for the race, please donate through www.giveforward.com/suequeenof the region (suggested minimum of $35 for race only or $38 if you would like a t-shirt). Then email Tracy at PMPRunningbee@gmail.com with name(s) of runner(s) and tshirt size(s) if desired.
RSVP for the dinner with a short email to the same address and number of people attending. PMPRunningBee@gmail.com
