A 14yr old with an eating disorder

I am a single mom of 3 beautiful children. I have battled an eating disorder for serveral years (actually all my life). Long story short, i have brought this horrible, life threatening illness into the lives of my children. My 14yr old daughter came to me in tears tonight admitting she has an eating disorder. I already knew it, she's obsessed with working out, calorie counting, starving herself and binging. I know it all too well. I'm asking for healing, strength, and deliverence. Thank you!

I can honestly say I have been through what she is going through currently. I suffered from an eating disorder from the age of 15, throughout high school, but finally recovered during my freshman year of college. Half the battle is trying to get yourself to believe that you are beautiful just the way you are and to fill that deep hole you have in your heart. I filled that hole by surrendering my thoughts/urges to Jesus on a daily basis. It’s not easy at all. But God will help her through this eating disorder and she will be truly happy/content with herself in the future. And don’t beat yourself up about bringing this to your children. It is not your fault. My mother had an eating disorder while I was growing up as well. Society is the one to blame, not you or any other parent in the world. Society’s false perception of what is “true beauty” makes it practically impossible for girls to love themselves in such a way they intended to be loved. I will pray for your daughter and for you. Remember to be supportive of her/loving her even when she messes up (recovery will not happen overnight), take her to cognitive behavioral therapy, let her see a nutritionist, tell her she is beautiful constantly and most importantly lead her to have the relationship with God that she deserves. God Bless.
