prayer for freedom from an eating disorder

I've battled on and off with bullemia for several years, and my prayer request is for strength, self-control, and freedom from this crippling anxiety and compulsion. I'd been doing well for several weeks, but relapsed recently (and no, not on Thanksgiving, ironically). I pray desparately that God would fight this sinful temptation for me, because I have tried and failed, and know that I cannot fight this on my own.

And I ask for prayers for those with battles similar to mine, because I know that I am not the only one who fights this battle, even though each of us feels alone in it.

Hang in there! You are right, so many people battle this, and other forms of eating disorders. It can feel like you’re all alone, but that is a LIE. It can feel like you’ll never get better, and you’ll never be free, but that is a LIE too. Praying for you and for the Truth to speak to you each and every day. That you are loved, that you are valuable, and that you can be free. If you need help, or someone to pray with you, call 1-800-525-LOVE or check out some great resources in our community for eating disorders. There’s help for you. Praying that as the Christmas season comes around, and food is so central to that, you will find God’s peace.
